Instagram is one of the biggest social media networks of the last decade. It was first introduced in October of 2010 and within 2 months of launching, it gained over 1 million users. With over 500+million active daily users, Instagram must be an area of focus if you want to grow your business. Here are my 5 reasons why you should advertise on Instagram.
1- More Millennials use Instagram.
There’s no denying it, Millennials are the largest working force currently in the world. Many of the baby boomers are now retiring and no matter what business you’re in, Millennials should be your main focus. Which is why Instagram should be your best advertising tool.
It’s really important that you can capture the attention of people on Instagram. Unlike advertising on Facebook, Instagram is a different beast. It’s a bit more focused. People communicate differently on Instagram compared to Facebook. It’s very image focus, you can’t write a big post like you can on Facebook. Also when you make a video ad on Facebook, you can insert a call to action button that would bring you potential customer to whatever link that you’ve added. That same video ad will not work on Instagram because it’s a different platform, there is no clickable button that is allowed.
The “style” used in Instagram is also different. Most images on Instagram are very stylized, they usually have bold colors and a quote that invokes a sort of emotions. That doesn’t mean that you can’t do the same thing on a Facebook post, but the audience of the two are very different.
2- Influencers Can Be a Great Way to Advertise.
Influencers are people that have a lot of followers on Instagram. There’s a minimum requirement of 1000 followers until you can make a “swipe up” ad on your Instagram stories. Influencers with over a thousand followers can be a great partner when you are trying to advertise your product but are lacking the amount of followers needed.
They can be a great help because of how many people like and comment on every post that they make. By partnering with an Influencer, they can make a post that contains your product or even better is a video of them using your product. This can be a great win-win scenario for both parties. You can pay them a fee, depending on how popular they are and you can benefit from the followers that they have. You might even get a great deal when you compare it to typical advertising costs.
3- The Power of Hashtags.
Hashtags are the bread and butter of Instagram. It’s sort of a way to mark your photo with a niche or a quote that other people are already following. For example, if you are selling handmade jewelry, you hashtags should be keywords that relate to your photo. #HandmadeJewelry #CustomNecklace #Madewithlove #CustomJewelry, you get the point. By using these hashtags, you sort of narrow down the audience that you are trying to target.
Users who follow handmade jewelry post will start to see your photos popping in their feed and sooner or later you will start to get followers. By using the power of hashtags, you can start to grow a following and start to advertise more aggressively, remember that you need at least 1000 followers before you can make a swipe up video ad. So what that is, is basically a short video ad, usually around 15-30 seconds where you can attach a link to your product or service that you are promoting when a user “swipes up” on your video. Once you have this feature, you can start making enticing videos that makes customers want to know more about your product. Similar to making a sales funnel, you are directing your customer to the sales page and hopefully you can start making sales.
4- Instagram is a Mobile King.
During my daily commutes to work and home, I often see a lot of people using Instagram around me. Since Instagram is a mobile app, the best time to make a post is usually around 5 PM when people are going back home. Rarely, do I see someone pull out a laptop during a train ride, it’s usually their mobile phone that they use when surfing the web. By making your ads mobile friendly, you have a greater chance of getting a sale during those peak hours.
5- Great Way to Communicate With Your Customers.
By posting on a daily basis, you can start to build a solid following. Using specialized hashtags, you will eventually have customers leaving comments on your post. Communication is such an important aspect of a business and by having your customers directly message you, you can create a strong community of loyal customers. Start by focusing on creating High-Quality post with lots of hashtags to get as many people liking, commenting and sharing your post. The more likes and comments you receive, the more people will start seeing your company pop up on their feed and the higher the chances of you getting more followers.

“Every no brings me closer to yes”Mark Cuban
No is such a simple word, it only has two letters yet most of us hate using it when it comes to using it in conversations. I’m sure we’ve all been stopped by someone on the street asking us to sign their petition. I know I’ve been through it, and it’s quite uncomfortable when they come up to you and all you want to say is no but instead you say something like “Sorry, I’m in a hurry.” I get it, I think we all do, because saying “no” just seems a tad aggressive, but what if I told you saying “no” may actually be your best choice when it comes to negotiating.
No is not the end.
No is not the end of a conversation, it’s only the beginning. What do I mean by that, well let’s say you are trying to sell your car. Your asking price is $5000 but you mentioned that you may be willing to negotiate. A potential buyer comes up to you and tries to low-ball you by offering $3500 because of this and that. Well, you say “no” not only because it’s not close to your asking price, but also testing him to see if he will budge.
Now, you may think that the deal ends there but not exactly, by saying no the buyer now has to think fast in order not to lose the deal. So they raise their offer, you go in a back and forth until they reach closer to your asking price or choose to back out. By saying no, you control the conversation and decide to continue or not.
Saying “Yes” may have been worse than saying “No”.
When you say yes to someone, even when you don’t want to, you only create a false sense of peace between you and the person asking. Then you start to do whatever it is that they asked of you with a bad attitude because you never wanted to do it in the first place. So now, that person can see that your not happy and you know that your not happy and everything just seems to fall apart. But let’s say, instead of saying yes right away, you simply just said no and gave them a reason why. For example, someone asked you to cover their night shift even though you were planning on spending the night with your significant other. You could just tell them “Hey, sorry but I can’t take that shift from you. I already have plans.” You might feel this awkwardness for a bit but honestly, that person will get over it and so will you. There’s no shame in saying no because you don’t want to do it.
If you’re scared of saying No then you can’t negotiate.
Negotiating is not only done in business, because we negotiate with other people on a daily basis and we don’t even realise it. When you go to a fast food restaurant or a coffee shop, the cashier is actually negotiating with you. “Would you like to supersize your combo?” or “Would you like to try our new latte?” these questions are designed to get a “yes or no” out of you. If you don’t like saying no to someone, then you will always end up buying something or doing something that you regret. Saying no is an affirmation that you are still in control.
It doesn’t mean that you are stubborn, it doesn’t mean that the deal was a failure, it’s actually the opposite. No will tend to open you up for discussion because it will show you more options to choose from.
No protects all parties during the exchange. It puts you in a feeling of safety, causes everyone to stop and think about what they really want. When used strategically, saying no allows the real issues to be front and center. No more beating around the bush because now you’ve made your point that you are not happy with the offer. It protects you from making rash decisions and puts you in a good state of mind, where you can articulate and get your ideas across. No keeps everyone moving forward until everyone agrees or decides that it’s not for them.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
You can’t fault yourself when someone is not happy, it’s almost impossible to make everyone happy. You must find it in yourself and realise that sometimes you will end up hurting people’s feelings. We can’t deny that when someone tells us no, it does sting a little bit. I’m sure we’ve all had moments in our childhood when we asked our parents to buy us something and they say no. You feel hurt and you start to cry. I’m sure that feelings doesn’t go away in adulthood, instead of crying we sometimes get a feeling of betrayal. But don’t let that stop you, the last thing that you want to be is a yes doormat. Saying yes because you don’t want to hurt their feelings is the worst. You have to stay strong and stick to your guns when it’s something that you do not want. You can find a way to let them down by making your no a little bit easier to take. Saying something like “No, I’m sorry. I’m not interested in that but if ever you have ideas about (say something that you’re actually interested in) then maybe we can work together. But for now, I have to say no.” You still said your “No” but you open them up for future work.
Saying no sucks but you will get over it. Remember that no does not mean the end of the conversation but the start of one. If you want to know more about the topic of saying No, I suggest reading “Never Split The Difference” by Chris Voss. He goes in depth of strategically using No in a negotiation. It’s an amazing book and the reason why I wrote this blog. If you would like to get your copy you can get it here:

One of the key factors that you must know when doing affiliate marketing is finding a profitable niche. There’s a vast amount of niches out there that you can find a product to promote. Whether or not they are all profitable, well that’s up for debate. Don’t be discouraged just yet because there are niches that are “evergreen”, meaning that they will always be a wise choice when choosing what to promote.
Niche #1 – Romance/ Dating Advice.
Who doesn’t want to be loved? I’m sure everyone in the world wants to find that special someone, me included. Which is why Romance is probably one of the most profitable niches out there. A simple YouTube search on dating advice and you will find hundreds of videos on the subject and almost all of them have more than 50k views! That’s a lot of potential customers that you have if you find the perfect product to promote.
If you can find a way to help them solve a problem and actually get them results, you will find that you customer base will start getting bigger and bigger. Maybe you can specialize in writing a perfect dating bio for dating apps, or maybe you can create a Facebook group dedicated to men trying to find single women in your area, where they can pay you to be their wingman when going out. Whatever you choose, just make sure that you are still offering a service or product that will help them in anyway.
An easy way to find an affiliate program is simply going on Google and searching “Romance Affiliate Program” and just go through each one and see which of these searches resonates well with you. If you want to know what I would pick, it would be the text chemistry by Amy North. She shows you a “how-to” when it comes to texting. Her ClickBank affiliate page has a pretty high gravity which means that other affiliates are using her affiliate link and doing a decent job with it. Niche #2 – Health and Fitness.
Health and Fitness is also a profitable niche. It seems like there’s a new diet popping up every single week. We are obsessed with being fit and healthy, and even more so if you can achieve it without hitting the gym. YouTube is a great source of finding a specialized niche that you can optimize and market for your specific audience.
Finding affiliate programs for gyms can be a good strategy, especially if you are only targeting people in your local area. Keywords are your best bet when trying to find the perfect product or service to promote. Keywords like “Lose weight”, “Diet”, or “Flat Belly” will help you pinpoint the right customers that you are trying to target with your ads. That’s when you can entice them with a good sales pitch and start to create a funnel that will guide them into buying the product or service that you are providing.
Normally, for health and fitness, a physical product would be your best choice when promoting. Products like Organifi is an example of a company that has a pretty good track record when it comes to affiliate marketing. They specialized in creating health juices that promotes weight loss, they offer multiple products such as their Green Juice, which was their first one. They gained a lot of popularity among affiliate marketers because Organifi is actually a really good business with strong customer service. Register for a ClickBank account and see if they are a good fit for you.
Niche #3 – Wealth/ Making Money Online.
If you asked anyone if they want to be rich, I would bet that they will all say yes. I mean who wouldn’t want to be rich? Seems like we can solve a lot of our problems if we just had enough money to take care of it. Making money online is one of the hottest trends right now, as you can see with how big the Google Search Volume is.
This is the right time to show people how to actually make money online. Whether you are showing them how to build an online store, or maybe how to do some freelance work and get paid. There are numerous ways of actually making some decent money online. My blog is focused mainly on Affiliate Marketing, which is another way of making money on the web. Basically, it’s all about directing traffic to affiliate links and making commissions when a customer buys a product or service that you are promoting. There are many services that can teach people how to actually do affiliate marketing properly. It’s always a good thing to learn from one mentor, because it can be very confusing if you just watch one affiliate marketer after another. The information they give can start to disrupt what another person said and suddenly you get a case of “paralysis through analysis” and then you will start to feel overwhelmed. If you want to truly learn how to do Affiliate Marketing the proper way, ClickBank University is a good program that can show you the ins and outs of Affiliate Marketing. They take you through each step, from choosing the right niche to making a sales funnel and showing you how to direct traffic to your sales page. Finding a niche that you want to specialize in can be tricky, it’s always good to choose a niche that you are passionate about. For me, I’m passionate about Art and Affiliate Marketing, it’s always on my mind and I always want to learn more about it. If your passion is creating handcrafted jewelry, or maybe you have a knack for fishing. There’s no harm if finding out if a passion of yours has an affiliate program. All you have to do is Google a company that you like and write Affiliate Program after the company name and see what turns up. Slowly, start incorporating their affiliate links to things that you enjoy doing, perhaps you like writing a blog like myself or maybe you make social media posts. You can find creative ways to plugin those links and direct traffic that way. No matter what you do, there’s an affiliate program out there that would match perfectly with your specialized niche, all you have to do is look!
